Hypnotherapy

noun

the use of hypnosis as a therapeutic technique.

From the moment I messaged Sarah, she was sympathetic and understanding. I had hypnotherapy over a few sessions and can honestly say it was the best thing I ever did. I finally, after years, have my life back. ~J

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a relaxing and effective form of therapy in which we use a combination of psychotherapy techniques and the natural state of trance to help bring about positive change.

The most common misconception about Hypnotherapy is that we will somehow lose control or can be instructed to do things against our will. This is simply not the case. Hypnotherapy is vastly different to stage hypnotism, and we cannot be hypnotised to do something against our will. Stage hypnotism relies on finding the most ‘game’ and ‘up for a laugh’ members of the audience who enjoy making people laugh and playing up to the audience feedback. Both stage hypnotism and Hypnotherapy utilise a trance state, but that is where the similarities end. We might not realise it, but we are all familiar with trance, and go in and out of it naturally many times each day when walking, driving or watching the television, for example. Have you ever driven somewhere and can’t remember how you got there? Or had to re-read the same page of a book several times as your mind has wondered off? That is trance. During trance, although it may feel as if we have switched off, our brains are actually working four times harder than usual to process information and come up with solutions. Trance heightens our awareness and concentration, and during this time we are more susceptible to suggestion. Imagine how powerful this can be for making changes in patterns of thinking and behaviour!

In therapy, trance is used to help you focus on what you want to achieve, moving forward positively. We can dissolve unhelpful programming, and help you move towards your goals. The trance sessions within therapy are typically relaxing and enjoyable, and you remain in control throughout the process.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is future orientated, focusing on where you are now and what you want to achieve, rather than analysing the past. This form of hypnotherapy is based on the latest neuro-scientific research and the current understanding of how the brain works.

During your FREE Initial Consultation, we will focus on how you would like to move forward from where you are now. I’ll explain how the brain works, based on the latest brain-based research, and why it is we can suffer in the way that we do from anxiety disorders, depression, fears and phobias, OCD, and so on. I will then explain how I can help you get back on top of things by bringing out the very best in you and putting you back in control of your life. You’ll also receive my free Relaxation/Sleep audio.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss how I can help or to book a free Initial Consultation.
